Catamount Cheerleaders Host Fall Camp October 24

The Western Carolina University Catamount Cheerleaders will be hosting a Fall Cheerleading Camp October 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Reid Gym. The cost of the camp is $75.

Catamount Cheerleaders, Kim Cherry-Beck Announce 2009-10 Squad

Western Carolina and head cheerleading coach Kim Cherry-Beck today announced the 2009-10 Catamount Cheer squad. One of the largest squads in recent history, the 26-member squad has representation from four states including 23 from North Carolina and one apiece from Georgia, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. -

Catamount Cheerleading Sets Try-Out Dates for April 17-19; Open Gym Dates April 2nd and 6th

Try-outs for the 2009-10 Western Carolina Catamount Cheerleading squad will be held the weekend of April 17-19 on-campus in Cullowhee. Both men and women who are currently enrolled, or that have been accepted to Western Carolina University are encouraged to try-out. All material will be taught during the clinic held Friday evening through Saturday morning, and performed in front of the coaching staff during the actual try-out on Saturday afternoon. The team will likely be chosen on Saturday evening and our first practice for the new year will be on Sunday, April 19th. -

Catamount Cheerleaders Participate in 2008 Operation Christmas Cheer

The Western Carolina Catamount Cheerleaders again helped spread holiday "cheer" this year by participating in the "Operation Christmas Box." The project included the sponsorship of 16 children through the Head Start program. -

Western Carolina, Head Coach Kim Cherry Announce 2008-09 Catamount Cheerleaders

Western Carolina head cheerleading coach Kim Cherry has announced her squad for the upcoming 2008-09 athletic season. The selections were made from the open try-outs held on campus back on April 18-20. Next year's Catamount cheerleading squad consists of seven seniors, five juniors, five sophomores and seven freshmen, with 14 of the 24 returning from a year ago with a total of 16 having collegiate cheerleading experience on the team. -
